The U.S. Green Building Council – Los Angeles Chapter proved that green is gorgeous at the 9th Annual Green Gala. The event was held at the Avalon in Hollywood and attended by over 500 eco-chic leaders from the Los Angeles sustainability scene.
This year’s theme,”Dream Green” was inspired by the creative green economy in Los Angeles. Did you know that we live in the Jeans Capital of the world? Speaker, Cathy Pack from Aecom, enlightened attendees on how fashion can inspire the local economy. Then came the fashion show ! Models wearing designs from Fallen Into Vintage (pictured) floated dreamily down the runway. Vintage fabrics that had been reimagined with modern silouettes wowed the crowd. Fashion students from Los Angeles Trade Technical College then amazed us with five collections ranging from ready to wear to the avant garde.
Valentina Castellani Quinn,of Quinn Studios hosted the evening and gave us a sneak peak at her Emmy-nominated film, ‘The Butterfly’s Dream”. The evening also featured a sustainable art show, Cool the World Children’s Choir performance, DJ Serafin, and the Sustainable Innovation Awards. Taking top honors for Project of the Year was the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation Headquarters in Agoura Hills.
Vons Credit Union and IRS Construction Demolition were title sponsors for the event and they both provided materials from their workplaces to fashion the two looks that were a fitting finale to a fabulous evening. Materials such as ceiling tiles, cables, and mousepads all graced the runway and showed the intersection between fashion design and building construction.
VIPs went home with a fabulous goodie bag filled with sustainable products. Thanks to Apteka Naturel for their donation of vegan vitamins and support of our Green Gala Event.
